“The most beautiful voice on radio”
Raymond invites you to join us at Le Manoir for an evening with Jenni Murray as she takes us through the highs and lows of her career and answers questions, before joining guests for dinner.
Born in Barnsley, Yorks on 12 May 1950, a few hours after the first broadcast of Woman’s Hour, Jenni recalls many hours listening with her mother and being sent to the kitchen on ‘errands’ whenever an item carried a ‘health warning’. In the early days of the programme, listeners were warned in advance of any ‘racy’ content!
Jenni began her broadcasting career in Bristol presenting South Today before moving to London to present Newsnight on BBC2 and Today on Radio 4. She inherited the Woman’s Hour chair from Sue MacGregor in 1987.
Described as having ”a well stocked mind”, Jenni has continued the Woman’s Hour tradition of tackling controversial issues; the programme was the first to discuss openly the menopause, homosexuality and cohabitation.
Jenni is also an author and newspaper columnist. In 1999 she was made an OBE for services to radio broadcasting.
Priced at £225 per person including:
Laurent-Perrier Champagne reception
Four course dinner with accompanying wines
