About the artists:

Ruth Palmer
“Strident, shocking, imperious and beautiful, this was a riveting performance”, is how Anna Picard described a recent performance from Ruth Palmer. One of our most dynamic performers, Ruth has gained an international reputation, including a classical BRIT award. She has performed and recorded with many leading orchestras including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the English Chamber Orchestra and many others. She has collaborated with many other artists of international standing and has given UK and world premieres of two pieces by Sir John Tavener and of pieces by Sir Richard Rodney Bennett.

Ruth appears regularly on BBC Radio 3, Radio 4 and Classic FM, as well as on international radio and television.

Marios Papadopoulos
“Performances full of personality and intelligence”, “Music making of an uncommonly dedicated order…” “Independence of thought and insight”. These are just some of the accolades given to Marios Papadopoulos since his piano recital debut at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in 1975. Since then he has cemented his position among the great pianists of today, with his recordings of the Beethoven Sonatas ranked among the best of Brendel and Barenboim.

He has appeared as soloist with and conducted many of the world’s great orchestras, including the Philharmonia Orchestra and Chorus, the London Mozart Players and the Royal Philharmonic. In 1998, he founded Oxford Philomusica, the Orchestra in Residence at the University of Oxford, of which he is Music Director. His prolific output as a recording artist includes Stravinsky’s Concerto for Piano and Wind, many works by Mozart, Mussorgsky and César Franck among others.
