An evening behind the scenes at Britain’s oldest museum, the Ashmolean - Wednesday, 14th September - SOLD OUT

Meet three of the Ashmolean Museum’s most experienced curators, John Whiteley, Henry Kim and Sheilagh Vainker who will introduce you to the museum’s world-renowned collection of art and archaeology. The focuses of this evening will be Camille Pissarro and Impressionism, Eastern Art, and Treasures of the Ashmolean.

John Whiteley will guide you round the print room where you will view works by Camille Pissarro. A talk on The Museum in 12 objects will be given by Henry Kim, the Project Director for this stunning new building and Sheilagh Vainker will show you some fascinating samples of the Eastern Art collection.

The Ashmolean’s £61 million redevelopment opened to the public in November 2009, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Award-winning architect Rick Mather has created a building that has doubled the Ashmolean’s gallery space, incorporating full environmental control, a new education centre, and state-of-the-art conservation facilities. The Ashmolean now has a world-class building to match its world-class collections.

You will finish your private tour with champagne and canapés served in the museum before returning to Le Manoir for a sumptuous dinner.

This event is held in our private dining room, La Belle Epoque, where guests will be seated on large tables of up to ten guests per table.

This event is priced at £225 per person including:

Welcome at Le Manoir before being taken to the Ashmolean Museum
Private viewing of the Ashmolean Museum with champagne and canape reception
Return to Le Manoir for four course dinner with accompanying wines
